Both the CEL and Slip Indicator light came on today. 2009 4-Cylinder Tacoma. Approx 160,000 Kms.

Any reason why it would come on? And yes I’ll be ordering a OBD scanner to get the codes but I’m just wondering.

    Thank you in advance.

Traction Control Light is most likely on because the engine light is on (most engine codes disable the Traction Control System), there's several hundred possible engine codes so you will need to pull the code(s) to proceed in troubleshooting.

Just had the same thing happen on my 09 4cylinder. At 150,000kms. Maybe the OBD gets lonely and is programmed to throw a code :DTurned out to be a "Very minor leak in evap system" which was probably the gas cap not being clicked closed. I can't remember the code # specifically. Clicked the cap and reset the code and has been off for a month. Hoping it stays off, as the fuel filler brittle plastic vent line cracked when i removed the truck bed to replace the fuel pump and although it was patched, it lives in a pretty harsh environment. The traction control light came on for me too, but turned off after resetting.

This. The traction light is in tandem basically.

Those lights come in tandem. If it's PO456, it's usually the gas cap.

Replace the gas cap & clean the filler neck with whatever.

Replaced mine & cleaned it with my face mask & aqua.

    No more codes :)

MotoRad is cheap, just reseat it a few times after getting gas.

    Good luck :)
