    So my 06 tacoma base 2.7 thru a code and said it a. P0717 faulty speed sensor on trans. How easy is it to fix and how much for the part? Thankyou asap

    You could just clear the code and see if it comes back. It may not. Disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes then reconnect it to clear the ECU Codes.

    Test it IAW the post above to know if it is the sensor the wiring or the ECU. More than likely it is the sensor.

    Easy to replace. One bolt and then twist and pull it out of the transmission. Reverse the sequence to install the new one.

    1.) How much for the part?

    I don't know.

    A brief look seems to be from 68 - 150 dollars depending on where you look.
    OEM Toyota is probably more.


    2.) Gotta change the gear too?

    No. Just the sensor.

    No, it should not ( maybe a drop). It is too high up.
