Ok first problem I've ever had with the truck. 2012 TRD OR 125k miles.

Drove fine all day no issues.

Leaving friends house, pull out on to the road and notice no power when hitting the gas pedal. Look over and see the CEL and the Trac Off lights lit up. I limp it back to my friends house and jump online to look some stuff up and find it could be gas cap or O2 sensor... I take the cap off and tighten it back on, light still on.
I then decide to disconnect the battery and let it sit for a moment and re-do the gas cap. Put the battery cable back on and the light is out. I drive home (40 minute ride) no issues at all and drives like normal and like nothing ever happened.

Today my wife goes to take the truck and pulls out and notices no power and looks over to see the lights on again. She got it back home and I ran to pick up a new Gas Cap and installed when I got home just to start on the cheaper side of the repairs.
Start it up, lights are still on.
Disconnect battery, reconnect battery, no lights. Haven't driven yet to see when it'll happen again or if that's was the fix.

Any insight? Everything I see has to do with the 2 lights coming on but nothing with the reduced power.

I'll be going to have it scanned here shortly to find what the code may have been.

    Thanks

Whatever history was there will be gone now seriously doubt it's the gas cap

I highly doubt it too, but figured try a $20 fix.

That was another question, when you disconnect the battery, I'm guessing the codes are removed? Never had a vechile have one come on so I'm new to that. 5 years with this truck never a light and previous vehicles never had one.

    I was afraid of that.

Without going through 39 pages of stuff, has it been getting covered by anything under warranty? Or what's the fix? Replace the valves and/or pump?

Pumps/valves are covered only by the 3 year 36k factory warranty.

Tundras currently have a special coverage for them but nothing on tacoma.

If you have a extended warranty they would probably cover. Need the code when it comes back to figure out what you need.

Yea my 125k miles are not going to be covered then.

I'll work on getting it to come back. Just went for a ride and no lights.

Once I get the codes and diagnose which it may be, pretty straight forward with the replacement? Remove and replace?

I don't hear that pump turning on anymore when first started Like before

It sounds like the secondary air injection system. Happened to me three months ago. Just took out and replaced the pump and valves with new parts. Month after that did a bypass because the parts only last between 45-60 thousand miles.
