Long time lurker, first time poster:
First off, thanks already for helping me decide on Cement. I'd been monitoring TW for a few months for prices and colors, and I liked the look of your Cements more than any of the others. I was between Army Green and Cement, but I wanted to buy a used camper shell since I'd be driving from PA > Salt Lake with all of my belongings in the back. Pulled the trigger on a 2021 Cement Off-Road DCLB with a few minor dealer upgrades (blackout, step) that I had been monitoring, partly because there were 2 cement shells listed on FB marketplace within 2 hours. One fell through, the other I was fortunate to get that same night.

I've already shorted out my truck and couldnt start it by trying to tap the shell light into the rear brake light (the clowns on youtube dont mention disconnecting the battery before messing with the wiring). Luckily I found out it was just a blown STOP fuse that I had to replace - and trust me, it was a miracle I diagnosed that myself using other TW threads.

I think I'll pay a LEER dealer to wire the cap, replace the lock/get a spare key (the kid i bought it from didnt even know it had a lock, lol) and seal it from water leaking.

First mod will be a Pro Grille and some minor decals. I love those retro 3-color stripes you see everywhere, but i doubt they'll look right with a shell on top. Can't spend any more real money until i land a job out here in Salt Lake.

Question: Any cheap mods that you have been happy with - I'm talking mostly aesthetic, that make your Cement really look unique? Bonus Points if you have experience making a shell look right.

I'll hang up and listen, thanks!

Welcome to TW, glad you got the truck you wanted. I'm one that is less concerned about aesthetics than function, but a couple of things I did do that were aesthetics related was to remove the TRD Off Road stickers from the bed, as well as the Tacoma emblems on the doors. It gave the truck a cleaner look, and costs nothing to do. I was also given a set of black matte vinyl inserts to black out the stock wheels, I believe they are about $25 to purchase and help a lot with the looks as well.

I bought those and although they did improve the look, they immediately began to peel, fold and break despite a strong prep/install job. I hope you have better luck.

I kind of thought that they wouldn't last long either, however, I've had them on my truck for about 6 months now and have had no issues, even going through the automatic care wash after off roading has not caused a problem. When I installed them I first cleaned the wheels well, then wiped them down with 90% Isopropyl alcohol, then used Rapid TAC Application Fluid when applying the wraps. I also let the wheels dry and the wraps to cure for 24 hours before driving with them. Time will tell how they hold out over the long run I guess.
