Been missing this piece inside that connects the ducting to the air vents since I bought the truck. I believe it's part of the whole trim piece that has the vents and surrounds the a/c controls/radio/ashtray... I can't find any detailed pics on part diagrams. I don't see a single piece to purchase anyways. If it's part of the trim piece then the dealer wants way too much for it. And I can't seem to find any at salvage yards for some reason. Anyone know exactly what this piece is and if it's part of that trim piece or if it's available separately? Maybe an idea of what to use for some homemade ducting perhaps?
***Not needing the vents themselves. Just took them out for pics***

I have an 01 and mine is missing too. I noticed it when I took apart the dash, I wonder if they just didn't put it in ever truck or what.

Hmm.. Maybe someone can pop out one of their vents and take a look for us?

And there's nothing on the backside of the big center trim piece that contains the two vents? I actually just got back from the dealer for another part I needed and had them look it up. They didn't really have any more of an idea or a more detailed diagram. He printed it out for me though and here it is. It LOOKS like there might be a piece behind it, but Idk. Maybe all of us had previous owners who took it apart and perhaps it breaks easily and just left it out? Hard to believe if this is designed like this from Toyota. Don't see how it makes sense to have a big ass gap letting air go all over inside the dash.. I even see foam strips on the other ducting piece in there and looks like another duct connects from that to the vents.

My 02 has a rectangle duct that runs from the duct you have pictured to the vents.

Well, regardless, I'm not paying $139 for that center trim piece seeing as I can't order it separately. Think I'm just gonna craft something up. Just a simple rectangular box to connect them. Perhaps out of thin sheet metal or plexiglass. Hell even cardboard would work. Ha. But I got some of both metal and a thin sheet of plexiglass. Just jb weld or silicone it onto the trim piece, put some foam strips on the other end and try that. I might get to that today. If I do I'll make a little write-up for ya guys. Maybe get us some better air flow. I mean it's good now, but being in az sometimes I like a nice powerful blast in my face from time to time, heh.

Oh! Dude! You should totally take it apart one day for me!!:D If you ever feel up to it anyways. I would REALLY appreciate it. Maybe take some pics and some measurements. Or if nothing else, a measurement from the beginning of the trim to the backside. Basically the depth of that little duct. Which can probly be obtained just by removing one of your vents:)
I can figure out the rest once I pull the trim piece off. Figuring out the depth might be a little difficult.

It attaches to the lip behind the vents at a slant, longer side on bottom, and wraps around that duct coming up from behind the dash. Should be very easy to make something out of plastic and some of that aluminum ducting tape (not the grey stuff, the metallic kind). I am not taking my dash apart lol!;)

It looks like someone took it out on your truck when they wrapped that cord around the center support in that air duct.

Actually that was from me. I bought a digital temp gauge and use it to monitor the air when the a/c is on:D
Gonna re-route that somewhere later on. Maybe port it through a hole in my crafted duct when I get to it. Didnt get to it today had other crap I was working on under the engine. I will work on this as soon as I have time. Thanks guys. I'll revive this thread once I get it done:)
