    When I travel.....
I have mine in the front seat, just fold the backrest down overtop of it.

Works great and if I need it just flip the lever seat flips up and I go it.

BTW mine is a 7.5" pistol AR-15..... Fits great.

OK... maybe I missed the reason, but why not just carry it on your person ?? Been doing it for over 29 years ( LEO ) without a problem. If I needed it, it would be a lot quicker just to draw. The only time I ever thought I may need it, (I didn't but was happy I had it,) was at a gas stop at 3am. Having it inside the truck would be worthless while I was outside. Now thinking about it/ maybe it's because of your laws. And in that case/ good idea.

    Who said we don't also?
But yes some are due to laws, CC on person/in the truck are different.

Considering that carrying a loaded firearm in Canada is illegal, I think my post wasn't too bad.

I appreciate you asking the question without causing a flame fest.

I typically carry using a Galco IWB holster in the small of my back. In the Florida heat, it's hard to find another place to carry it without revealing it since we wear shorts/t-shirts 90% of the time.

After doing some practicing, I was able to draw much more quickly and efficiently from the center console mount. With it holstered in my Galco, there is no way in hell I would be able to draw it fast enough to protect myself in an emergency.

Finally, I have yet to get my Florida CCP. I still have an active one from Arkansas and Florida is a reciprocal state of Arkansas, but I don't want to rely on that given that I am now a permanent resident of Florida. I do not carry concealed - I simply use this mount for times when I am going to be on the road for long periods of time. I, of course, follow all local laws when transporting the firearm to and from the vehicle.

Main reason for having the gun in the truck at all is due to a handful of incidents where motorists were approached by homeless folks/wanderers at stop lights throughout the city. While the majority of them were non-violent, there were a few that escalated, making me become more aware of those situations and how I would protect myself and my passenger should it ever happen to me.

Again, thank you for your input and being polite about it!

I laughed at this when I saw your location. :D

Seeing yours is actually what inspired me. Did a little bit more research on various mounts and finally pulled the trigger (HA!) on this one.

    It's all good man.

It's just an interesting outlook on culutral differences really. :D

I'm curious to see when the sawed-off 12 gauge holder is going to be posted.

In my Jeep, it fits perfectly above the roll bar above the drivers door with the hardtop on. Not sawed off, 20" Mossberg 590.

I hate California. I don't have a center console to put a gun into, which makes me very angry, thanks Toyota. I have a wooden mallet, instead. Oh, and a rock...

OP, great execution of a great idea. My pistol usually ends up just floating around in my center console, which I do not like. I think I will need to go this route as well.

Funny, because I just logged in to say how wonderful it is that you are allowed to protect yourselves like that in the USA.

Canada's gun laws are a hot mess, CCW is a pipe dream up here... although Canada did make a change for the better eliminating long gun registry... so all hope is not lost yet.
