Completely agree...glad you're doing it right...

Kinda wish there was a place that let you run those kind of training exercises here in South/Central Florida.

Practice is definitely a big part of being able to defend yourself correctly and effectively.

I think what im going to start doing is heading off to the middle of nowhere, (as close as i can get to it) at least where i know no one is going to be around and practice out some drills with the wife.

you have to be prepared for any possible situation.

I used to use the top floor of the parking garage where we used to park for work downtown. Was always deserted and the lighting up there resembled street lighting at night. Worked pretty well. Our office moved so now I just use the parking lot at our current spot on the weekends or at night.

It took me a while to get my girlfriend comfortable with my guns and keeping my Sig on the nightstand. Once I got her over that hurdle, she's taken pretty well to everything else gun-related, aside from how much they cost. :D

For those looking for situational training I highly recommend IDPA. http://www.idpa.com/

There are 20 clubs in Florida alone. You will find a number of the members are more than likely LEO's which is a good thing IMO.

Yea for sure, but florida laws prevent you from
Having it open under the steering colum. Unless
    I am mistaken.

Thats originaly where i wanted to mount it.
    But that florida law

    Which law?

    (17) “Securely encased” means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access.

That one basically states that you could put it wherever as long as it is "snapped in a holster". You could therefore mount a holster anywhere you want.

From what i understood, or what i was told when getting my
CCL was that it could not be in the open. It has to be in some
    Sort of compartment.
Given the example that if you have a center console that does
Not have a closable lid, you are not allowed storage of the fire
Arm there. It has to be "concealed"

Done.....I like the set up. Perfect for going from IWB into truck and back to its home. Thanks for the great idea! FDE Glock 23 love this firearm, I picked up two conversion barrels a 40/9 and 40/357 sig so I have three guns in one and the barrels all fit my G27 so same goes for it. Conversion barrel is slightly longer but they are only for fun in the G27. Thanks again!

Nice!! Glad it worked for you!

I'm actually shopping for a cheap gun to keep in the truck permanently, when it won't be parked longer than a night or so.

Aha! I wanna move to Fla now. Any of you 'Merican bros wanna adopt or sponsor a teacher? ha ha ha ha

Seriously though we cannot CCW or CCP here in Canuckistan, I train and compete (I ain't a gun fighter) with Safariland 6377 and 6378 holsters and their ALS system. I particularly love the QLS system (Quick Lock System).

If I joined you Taco CCW dudes down in Florida, I'm rocking the MLS (molle locking system) or the QLS under my dash with the 6378 and QLS 21 system. Think of a large FASTEX buckle system. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas!

    Cheers and regards,
    Barney

I carry a Hi-point 9mm that is permanently afixed to my truck - it is a firearm that is not expensive and has a lifetime warranty - it has never jammed up or failed me in anyway.

Not the most comfortable of guns or even the nicest looking - but I like it and have gotten use to it and I hope I never have to use it - but I am glad to have it by my side everytime I am in my truck.

I decided on this firearm for a few reasons - but the most obvious is the cost.I would hate to have one of my $4-$600 dollar guns stolen.
But the Hi-point is under $150 so you cant really go wrong there.

Best of luck in whatever you decide.

The holsters look nice, but how good are they in use? Who has had experience with pulling their gun in the heat of the moment to blow someone away?
