    Hi guys,

    I'm looking at making more now. I'm actually going to redesign it a bit to address some requests, like a permanent mounting solution.

    Same here Iggy, PM me when you have the 6MT panels. Got a couple projects on hold since I have no where to install switches.

    Hi guys,

    Im close to sending off for the new batch. Ive made an update to the design so it can be mounted more permanently if desired and eliminates the need for handles. The handles are getting more expensive and harder to source along with aluminum pricing rising.

    This concept uses 1/8” aluminum vs 3/16” but has two tabs that have holes so screws can be used secure it to the center cubby if you want.

    Heres the new design.

    4FB64009-1628-4BF6-BAC0-DDA6F25D1DE9.jpg

    Heres a 3D print that shows how tall the tabs are.

    What do you all think?

    I like it. I would install it the other way so you don't see the tabs and screws.

    Same here, prefer to have tabs hidden facing forward. Should be enough space with center switch panel removed to reach in and attach screws. Or if it attaches to the lower console, then that is a 5 minute job to pull the console out to install

    Ok, let me check to see if the tabs fit flipped. The reason I did the tabs towards the front are so you don't have to take the console apart to access the screws. Otherwise every time you add a switch it has to be removed. The other benefit is the tabs help remove the panel since the handles are missing.

    @Iggy

    I assume it will black again so the tabs won’t really be seen. Either way I need a 6-speed one so just let me know.

    Good points. If tabs are to help removal, then you may want to add cutouts on tabs for fingers to grab onto otherwise a flat piece metal against flat surface doesn’t give you much to hold onto. Other option is have an 2nd bend at top of tabs so there is a small lip pointing inwards to grab onto. Most aluminum want a 2T bend radius so this my protrude in a bit.

    If it were my design, I’d make the tabs full height of switch panel and profile them half ovals with large D cutout so you get the look of handles and spread the mounting holes as far apart as possible. One water jet operation and two bends same as what you show.

    Now for a cost-no-object approach, make part like you show but with 90% of center cut out and 4 tapped hole in corners and bolt this in first as a support frame then bolt in 2nd piece face panel with the switch cutout. 2 part design so close to 2X cost.

    FWIW, I'd use strong magnets with a steel plate to mount it vs. screws. Can't be that much demand on that plate to hold it in place. Seems like a perfect setup for a magnet mount.
