    Awesome idea.
Problem is I have a case so I doubt it would fit with the case.

One thing to note when developing a unit utilizing the ram style mount is it will just about double the cost due to the additional components being sourced.

Is this something people would still be interested in at $40-45 a pop?

    Thanks for the feedback everyone,
    Tim

I really like the idea, except for the fact that it would cause the driver to look too far away from the road when driving. I got rid of my ProClip (which held the phone firmly and charged) for that reason.

Nice, I would ask for one but my Samsung note 3 just rides in the spot below the plugs in the huge tray.

this looks decent. i have honestly been looking for a mount for my phone.
thought of the cd player mount but than it is smack in the middle of my radio.
i bought a cheap $10 vent mount but my 6+ which is in a case made it too wide and it wouldnt work.
and i honestly dont like the windshield mounts because i dont like things on my windshield

Any chance of making one that fits a GPS?

Like the idea of not using one of my cup holders for a mount, like I do now.

@tomwil If it's similarly shaped to a phone then I will be as I'm developing a universal unit at this point based on feedback here.

I've been pondering this a bit and I believe the best path forward is using the RAM Mount technology. However taking an already patented consumer product and reselling it with my consumer product probably wouldn't be the smartest idea, and this component alone adds $12.00-$16.00 to the BOM (what I'm just guessing at a quantity rate so don't hold me to that haha).

It seems like it makes the most sense to make a console insert that is compatible with the ball and socket of the RAM mount, where the end-user would purchase their own mount separately to fit their needs (leaving the total cost around $40-45 for a usable config). The cost of the insert would remain $25 with a socket and small clamp so it can be adjusted and locked as needed.

I have some hardware on order and I'll nail down the functionality first. I've already CAD up and confirmed the RAM mount geo so we shall go from there!

Any input on this route is definitely appreciated. It's been awesome getting direct feedback so far.

    I
wouldn't this make the tray heavier on one said and make the whole assembly fall back?
