    I am not a fan of the RAM mount myself. Too bulky for my aesthetic tastes. I really liked the idea of a flat mount with a strong magnet. But this is your invention and design and you should build what you think is best.

    This is the case. I'll have to test to confirm but it's the same as the current in that regard . It's a press fit into the cubby. The front of the tray captures the cubby on three sides and uses this for stability. When its in there right now it's solid, yet you can easily pop it out when needed. The RAM mount will add some weight for sure so I'll have to play with it a bit so we shall see!

    I haven't picked up a magnet to play with yet, what happens if the back of the phone is curved, do the magnets still work? I agree with you that it would be aesthetically much cleaner looking.

    Most cases have a flat back and the thin piece of metal goes between the phone and case. But you are correct, some cases would not work.

    Do you do the 3D printing yourself? I have unrelated projects i've paid to have 3D printed and am considering just buying a printer myself... wondering if you had any feedback.

    I do the printing myself. I have a pretty modified replicator 2 that I print predominantly abs with.

    I worked for MakerBot for about three years and was involved in the design of this printer. I'd take a replicator 2 or 2x over a 5th gen any day. Long story short we received insane pressure to release three completely new printers from the ground up in less than a year. We knew of all the issues with 5th gen and had proposed improvements (that would be outside the scope of their unrealistic timeline), but they were denied. A handful of people padded their coffers nicely off the 5th gen machine release, but reputation and products I was proud of making was tarnished by greed and that whole deal was a major reason I left the company.

    Shoot me a message if you have any specific questions and I can provide some input from someone that understands the tech pretty well.

    @steveo27 I'm definitely open to making something similar for manuals. I'm not familiar with the console configuration on a manual but I can look into it. Once I get the universal mount for the autos dialed I'll check it out.

    @T MAC, If you have any like the one you originally posted that would fit an iphone 7 I would gladly pay you for it.

    Great design!

    :popcorn: I personally think that is the best spot available for a phone, especially if you use yours as a GPS

    @oneworden

    I can definitely make you one. Only thing I would need to know is if you plan on running a case or not, and if so, which one. The dock style utilizes a snug fit between the phone and the dock itself so we'll need to adjust dimensions to accommodate your phone/case (if using one).

    @Gaunt596 Thanks for the love!

    @T MAC, That sounds great! I am running just an iPhone 7 without a case. Let me know the easiest way to get you paid!

    I bought one of these from Tim and have been using it for a few a few months now. Fit is great in the truck, room for charging cable, and holds the phone perfectly (easy to slide in and out but won't fall out or rattle). I literally use it every time i get into the truck. One of the better accessories i have purchased.

    Motorola lists dimensions on their site. I can make you one. Do you use a phone case?

    Also, I'd be up for one of these with either a Ram Ball or if you could make one that fits a Galaxy S7 with a Life proof case on it
