    Like, so many.
I was watching a video about Land Rover Defenders and the narrator explained how they are full time four wheel drive, but how that's not really true.
He demonstrated by getting one tire off the ground and they entire vehicle became stuck as it was the only tire spinning. He enhanced the center diff lock and it crawled right over.
My question is, would this happen with a Tacoma 4x4? I know there isn't a center diff lock, so would one airborne tire bring the truck to a halt?

That's what a locking diff is for. (lock the diff and it'll get over even with 1 wheel in the air. The electronic LSD will also do the same, but with a shit ton of nasty noise.

No it wouldn't. When the center diff lock is on at least in my land cruiser it distributes it 50/50 power and then I can activate the lockers as needed. On the tacos you would have to have one front and one rear tire off the ground and you would be stuck. When you activate the front or rear locker you will pull right out

No, your Tacoma won't have that issue because it is not All-Wheel Drive. In European terms the Tacoma comes with a locked center diff where as the Rover has an open center diff that can be locked; this is because what we call a transfer case they call a center diff.

We have part time 4x4, this means when the 4x4 is engaged the transfer case acts as a 50:50 distribution when in 4x4.

A fulltime 4x4 system has a differential that distributes the power as required. Meaning "AWD" like a subaru. Most luxury SUV's have this.

When a full time 4x4 center diff is "locked" it goes into 50:50 power distribution, like our tacomas.

So 4x4 "locked" is tacoma mode.

4x4/AWD unlocked, is tame street mode.

    So a limited 4runner has 4 modes.

    2WD, 4HI, 4HI Locked, 4LO Locked.

    We have

    2WD, 4HI "Locked", 4LO "Locked"

    @NEWBIETACO has it right

Before the mis-information gets out of hand...read this link. It's long but you can skim it quickly. It'll do a good job of describing all of the systems in use today and why one is not the other.

Not sure if you're referring to the 5th gen 4Runner Limiteds but they don't have an available 2wd. It's 4 high unlocked center diff, 4 high locked center diff (acting the same as a Taco in 4 high now), or 4 low locked center diff - hence full-time 4wd.

The Limited has a 2wd mode? Our '05 runner only has 4hi and 4lo with center diff lock button.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Yes. Unless you have a rear locker and it's a rear tire slipping.

I believe it's a difference between the v8 and v6 limited. Sequoias use a 2WD/4WD with center lock as well, so maybe v6 only?

Edit: looks like Toyota called it Muti-mode on the 4th gen T4R's and only the V6 had 2wd/4wd with center diff lock option.

The 3rd Gen's had 2WD along with 4WD/center lock as well.

No 5th gen limited has 2WD as an option, further pointing towards the v8 having 2wd limiteds.

We may have learned something today!

Bishop got it with the V8 option
3rd Gen had the option of 2wd/4hi/4Fulltime/4lo
    4th and 5th V6 limited were only fulltime/partime (no 2wd)
4th V8 had the Tundra/Sequoia transmission and transfer case with 2wd/4hi/4Fulltime/4lo

That's prerunner talk, with a 4x4 Tacoma you have to lose traction with a front and a rear wheel to stop forward progress.
