Center display gone wacky

Love my 2021 TRD Off-Road. Not one issue since I got it in Nov. But, got in the truck this PM to go home from work, and as soon as I opened the door, noticed the driver display all wonky. It didn't clear up after starting it. Turned off the truck, then back on. I went ahead and drove it to the dealership so they can see it. Pulled into their courtesy bay (or whatever you call it) and left it running while I grabbed a service manager/writer so he can see it (I didn't want to turn off my truck and then it clears up..hard to diagnose if they can't see it for themselves). The service manager never seen that before, and went to grab a tech. He never seen it either.



Told him that we are headed to Gulf Shores in about 2.5 weeks and taking the truck (my wife LOVES the wi-fi for her tablet). He said they are going to order the part and should be in next week. I asked if it clears up, will it still be replaced and he said yes, because it could go back out anyway. So, he ensured my phone number was correct and told me he would call as soon as it came in.

So, after I got home, I turned off the truck and went inside for about 10 minutes. Told my wife I was going to pull the battery to see if that would work, and when I opened up the door, the display came on correctly. Started the truck and it seemed fine. Has anyone seen something like this? No other warning lights or anything (and I use adaptive cruise and it was just fine, too...just couldn't tell the exact speed I had it set at).

Any info from you expert Tacoma owners?

It isn't me. Must be the truck doing it when I lock it up at night. Guess me and my Tacoma are gonna have a talk!

 

EMP from a nuclear explosion will do that. Have you been near any nuclear explosions lately?

 

Not in the past week or so. Glad I skipped out on that trip to Chernobyl

 

With all of the digital stuff, vehicles are gonna start behaving like a Windows computer - change one little thing or have one stray bit of digital data and everything goes wonky. Trying to correlate a sequence of events to duplicate it almost becomes mission impossible.

My 20 just did it. Disconnected the battery and it went back to normal

 

Semi bizarre thing happened tonight... washing the truck opened the door to step onto my side-bars
so I could reach the top and my phone started playing some stupid-azz music... like it was getting
picked up off of some stupid sirus radio station... was too involved with cleaning so I turned off the phone.

Truck wasn't turned on or nothing just opened the door...

Now if I could only get the damn truck to spit out gold-coins I'd be happy.

Have you tried blowing in the cartridge?

 

Just an update: display working normally this AM. I expect it to go out again at some point, but glad it will get fixed under warranty.
