Dealership just called me. He said Toyota wants the miles on the odometer for obvious reasons. He wasn't sure how to get the mileage as he thought it was still on the blitz. Told him it came back on just fine last night, so I went out to my truck and read him the odometer. Not sure what Toyota will do since I do drive my truck about 80 miles/day to work and back, so the miles I gave him now won't be the same when it is replaced. Oh well. You would think they would have the mileage stored somewhere else beside the MFD.

The mileage on the vehicle is stored in other chips. The display is just projecting what it's being told.

That's good. I had a new Mercury Cougar once that had to have the digital dash replaced under warranty. All was good until I went to trade it in and took a hit because of the altered speedometer. I threatened Mercury with a lawsuit and they came up with the cash to make me whole.

The work order has a "starting mileage" box to enter what mileage the issue was originally reported at.
