So I was looking for Ground location BA because my center stop lamp is not working and I came across this, sure does not look OE and I am original owner. Wire colors match for power & ground wires to light, Violet & White-black stripe.
I did remove from circuit and lamp still does not work :-(

I think you are correct, that does not look OE at all.
I'd guess the dealer installed one of those 3rd brake light flasher doodads.

the two bullet connectors need to be connected together. they're interrupting the third brake light circuit to make it flash.

it's an extremely popular dealer add-on, one that is officially illegal to DOT specifications.

i've also recently seen a lot of vehicles with the same issue-- i tell them their third brake lights are out, they usually inform me that they installed a module like that, and then are surprised it failed..

Yup, pink is physically separated. Remove that crap and re-solder/shrink sleeve.

What a bunch of BS. That would piss me enough to complain to the dealer.

If dealer is unwilling to remove and dispose of, one should understand the proper disposal methods:
    • remove from truck, return all wiring back to OE specs
    • obtain a red clay brick
    • wind wires and device around brick
    • duct tape wires/device to brick
    • next step is fun and easy, simply deposit through the dealership showroom glass and they will handle the rest from there!

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
Dealer did it so dealer fixes it for free. Dealer also refunds the $500 add-on they charged you for it.

being a '19, it's also possible that this is the 2nd or 3rd owner, making any reference to the original dealer useless.

at this point, time to just remove it make a mental note to never allow friends or family to accept it as part of any new vehicle purchase, and move on with life.

The OP said he is the original owner.
