    Hi all,

I noticed during my recent outting that my centre console is warm to the touch.
This occurs when im at low speed and in hi4 or lo4.

Im assuming the heat is generated from the transmission directly below it.

    Should I be worried?
    Is it overheating?
Yes Toyota changed the fluid for the transfer case and tranny
    Yes I’m less than 30kph.
No I do not have a temp gauge from the obd2 port

I've noticed the same with my truck ('09, MT). But just after driving in general for ~1hr+.

I popped the center console cup holders out and seen that all the insulation is practically gone. Some of it actually looks toasted lol. I am assuming that is why the heat is transferring so much. I'm not worried about it since I rarely drive my Taco for that long anymore. If I was worried about it, I might remove the entire center console and replace the insulation.

There is likely nothing wrong here, but having that gauge will give you peace of mind. And do lots of other good stuff for you.
