Anyone done the ceramic coating on their 1st Gen??
I see where some guys on the 2nd and 3rd Gens have done it but can't find any results / pics of first generation Tacoma's. I don't know much about the process but if it helps make the paint last longer then I'll consider it.

Imo its only worth it when the paint is new, defect free etc. On a faded/scratched 1st gen I would stick to waxing a few times a year with a high quality wax. Then use a detailing spray after washing if you're not planning on waxing.

    i am looking into it
many recent forest trail scratches have i but the local detail shop told me they can remove high 90% of them
i don't think my black paint is real faded but does have oxidation that has to be cleaned more frequently than i would like
a number of rock chips with touch up paint also needs to be considered

Went with Ceramic Pro w/5yr warranty back in June after an off-road pinstriping event. At certain angles you can kinda see them even after the paint correction. Ceramic might prevent or at least "reduce" some of these types of scratches. The light swirls in the paint are gone. My taco is black so after three years there were plenty of them. I primarily hand-washed it unless in the winter and had to get the rock salt off so took it to a carwash.

    The Drawbacks to me are:
    1. You have to take it in for detail once a year before the original application date. They "touch up" areas and make sure it's still adhering, yadda-yadda.
    2. You cannot use a carwash or it might damage the ceramic and possibly void your warranty. Touchless only but then again i rarely went to a carwash.
    3. You'll need to buy microfiber sponges/towels for handwashing.

I've only washed my truck once this summer. It looks like it needs a washing but not disgustingly so. The water is still beading perfectly like it was yesterday waxed even though it's dirty. I'll probably wash it this week some time. Overall, been happy with it but would get it from day one.

Edit: I have a 2016. If your paint is in decent condition it might be worth it.
