So, not sure if this is the right place but I am curious. Any of you live in the FL Panhandle know the requirements for USAR or SAR. I have a FEMA CERT certification from 2012 and would love to put it to use but Bay County does not have a CERT team, nearest one is Fort Walton Beach in i believe Walton County. So any of you know how to get one started? I have worked Security for nearly 7 years (since Mar 2013) but personally would rather help people than help them out the door and off the property. I figure I have the basic skills to do this but am sure more training is required.

    Any help would be appreciated

PS: if any of you do work SAR or CERT I'd love to see your rig.

Well, I just found a SAR unit in my town. Volunteer non-profit agency that works under the Authority of the local County Sheriff's office here. I am putting in my application later today. It is application, background check, interview. No prior experience required, but i am sure the fact I am certified to work on a FEMA Community Emergency Response Team will work in my favor.
