    Hey ya'll!
Just a quick question for those who may of installed a ch4x4 switch. I recently bought one and want to put it in asap but am a bit confused with the wiring of it? Maybe someone who understands the wording of it, but basically the premade harness has a green wire, 2 reds, and a black, and the diagram says the green goes to "source with inline fuse", red 1 goes to "relay or accessory", red 2 goes to "Dash light circuit to be on when dash lights are on" and black is obviously ground. Now the accessory and ground are self explanatory, so i guess if nothing else i could wire it up so that it turns on the accessory but doesn't light up, but im not sure about the source? I guess what im not sure about is is this a source for the light in the switch or is this more like a "power in" for the switch? Im also confused about where to wire in the "dash light circuit" wire. I was thinking I could splice into the wire that goes to the dimmer switch just to the left of the gauge panel, that way it would also dim with the rest of the lights. Is this possible and if so what wire would be the one I would tap into?

Green is the power source wire, can be wired direct to the battery or a tap to the inside fuse block harness which should have wires for both "always hot" and for "ignition/acc on". Of you want whatever is controlled by the switch to only run when the key is in and the switch is set to "on" (with or without the engine running), then use the switched line, if you want it to work all the time, use the always hot or go direct to the battery (you'll need to run a wire through the firewall to do that). If you're using a SPST or DPST relay, you can just wire the switch to the "switched" circuit with its output controlling the relay, then the relay (with a fuse) can be wired direct to the battery for the circuit of the accessory, and whatever you're running will effectively be switched with the ignition even though its power circuit is always hot since the control circuit will go off when the ignition is cut off.

You can also wire the "dash light on" wire into the power line if you want, which will have the switch lit up whenever the switch is powered (so, all the time if you run it to the battery), and it won't dim with the dash panel dimmer. Wiring that to the dash light circuit will light it up whenever the dash lights are on (pretty much whenever parking or headlights are on). Not sure which wires are good to tap for this, I'd like to find out myself actually since I just got a bunch of switches to wire in next weekend.

One thing to remember if you're tapping the source wire from a switched circuit on the inside fuse block is that unless you use a relay for whatever you're running from the switch, you'll be adding the load of that accessory to that circuit, and you may need to swap in a bigger fuse. If you're really confident, there should be at least one empty line in the fuse block which you could possibly wire up as either switched or unswitched and use the stock fuse line for an additional accessory, but this would require removing and modifying the fuse block itself.

Hope enough of that made enough sense to be helpful, I've got the communication skills of an engineer...

Pictures? Seen these and was curious how they appear lit up.

I installed it but I didn't wire it to light up, it's just turning it on and off. I didn't feel like hooking it up all the way because I think I'm going to go a different direction in adding switches this summer. I did hook it up to light up by mistake for a few moments by accident though, an I can tell you they are brighter than the other switches its by. I got the amber one to make it look as stock as possible, and it was just a shade lighter than the others. It wasn't a huge difference but it was enough to definitely stand out, so if the stock look is what you're going for, you may be a little disappointed, but you'll probably be the only one to even notice

question, do I need to wire in the backlight to a fuse tap? or can I just let that wire, red 2, from the CH4x4 button, hang free?

The only consequence of not connecting that wire is that the switch will be harder to locate at night unless it's turned on. There are two lights in the switch, one for the upper label/graphic and one for the On indicator which lights the lower text only when the switch is turned on.
