    Here is what i followed.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-running-board-lights-ground-lights.106251/

I ran power from the battery and everything was done with 18g wire. I only tapped the blue wire in the A pillar.

    Here are the lights.

I haven't added the switch yet because i havent found a spdt switch that i like but that will be pretty easy once i find one.

Want to head somewhere late spring, early summer...about 5 days, so that pretty much limits me to CO and NM. I think UT would be stretching it a bit.

I want to see mountains and drive passes...stuff we don't get to do in Texas.

Initial reaction to head towards Silverton and go from there. This is more of a scenic trip/ overland than rock crawling adventure.

What else/ where else should I look into?

I'm with you but I have to keep to the east coast. My wife's grandparents have a mountain home that we can crash at in NC but they typically try to run the show the entire time we are there. Drives me and my wife CRAZY!!!

Ok gotta rant for a moment about Austin Driver's. I've lived my whole life here so To those who are from here and/or live here this is nothing new but I spent several hours on the roads this morning so I digress.....

Last time I checked blinkers are NOT OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT ON ANY MAKE OR MODEL OF VEHICLE, right? I'm pretty sure it's standard equipment . I can't stand how poorly people drive here and do not use their blinkers to switch lanes or make turns. Fuck man, it just seems with all the growth here it has gotten really bad in these last few years to the point it's getting under my skin. I watched 2 accidents happen in front of me today Bc the person's didn't use a blinker. Both could have been avoided if a blinker was used:facepalm:

Maybe it's Bc in College I had a CDL license with UPS as well as drove the package cars so I take driving a little more seriously, but clearly the majority of the population here doesn't give a fuck when driving :smack:

Blinkers are on vehicles for a reason, use them.

To those not here :sorry: for my rant; I normally keep to myself.:sadviolin:
