dude epic facepalm  suspension components are carefully engineered with specific materials, angles, and just about everything else you can think of, like jandrews posted earlier. props for trying something different, but damn, you can't expect what you did to be quality. and if it were to fail on public roads you would be held liable for all damage/injuries, and I doubt you want that on your record, especially if you're going into the automotive industry

Don't they have vehicle safety inspections in southern California? I know if I was signing off on your truck, you wouldn't be driving that thing home until you had a safe suspension. I have been lurking since this thread began, and was gonna stay out of it. But, you seem Hell bent on doing this despite everyone telling you not to. You have been told why it is not a good idea. I guess all of your 19 years here on earth and the high school accolades you've picked up along the way make you smarter than the engineers that designed the system. Even dropping it to 3 inches does not eliminate the fact that your molested shocks are now structurally unsound and WILL FAIL.

I have only entered into this mess to ask you to consider the lives of others around you. If WHEN THIS FAILS, you only hurt or kill yourself, so be it. If you hurt or kill a member of the public due to your "engineering" that would be tragic and you should be held accountable.

    Rant over...

Can we just get back to who has the cheapest lift? We all agree hes dumb (even though its fking brilliant and hillarious) but hes only here for laughs and to see what others have done. So how about we find more people with cheap builds.

Well I applaud the "building a better mouse trap" concept, but a couple things, the longer the shock/strut the more prone to bending/breaking by physics alone & I predict it'd break right at the top weld where it meets the stock (I'm assuming) shock body & where's the custom UCA's & LCA's to accomodate this extended strut ? & why all this effort for a (no offense) Prerunner ? Seriously dude I love your imagination & would encourage you to continue your different ideas , but admittingly theres a ton more engineering that goes into IFS susp. & lifts setups than with something that has a straight axle ( which inheritingly is more accepting of radical alterations, like solid axle on coils or leafs for example) I wouldn't say you or your concept is stupid just not thought all the way thru with R&D..... just my $.02

You can get an inch more lift from 5100's if you just turn the spring perch upside down. So billies at 2.5", plus upside down spring perch= 3.5!

It's free, and a lot of people do it without even knowing it!

    ...I win.  :D
