I have a 2005 Tacoma dual cab. About 6 weeks ago I noticed an odd squeaking noise from the rear. I originally thought it was tire friction on a new paved parking lot. It was only recently that I determined it was squeaking when in reverse (only) and only when in gear. If I coast backwards, it is silent. No noise ever when in forward gear.

The noise sounds like when you rub a balloon. Not a metallic squeak.

IF I isolated it correctly, it emanates from the rear passenger side only. I pulled the drum off, and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

I towed a travel trailer about 1500 miles and it is no worse.

Anyone out there have a clue? I don’t suspect bearings because it only happens when in reverse gear. No other times
