So, I've been looking for a aluminum radiator for my Tacoma. It looks like NOBODY makes an all aluminum radiator for our trucks.

However, champion makes one for the 96-02 4runners. I did a quick check on Rock Auto and from what I can see, the 4runners and Tacoma might use a different radiator?

Anyone have any first hand knowledge on the difference ?

It would be really nice if Koyo Rad would make one. They still do for the early trucks

hmm.... this is something i may have to look into.... Granted the 3.4l doesnt really have much of an issue in the cooling department..

Can't you buy one for the earlier models and fab up some mounting brackets? Assuming it's got the typical trans fluid inlet/outlet at the bottom.

I made brackets and installed a Copper Brass Radiator in my 2000 out of a mid 90`s 3.0

I can`t see that you could not do something along those lines.

I had to get creative with the bottom hose but nothing major

I'm really just wondering what the difference is between the 4runner and Tacoma radiator. If it is just mounts, I can deal with it.

I have the same Radiator in my 92 4Runner and my 2000 Tacoma

    Also in my 87 4Runner 22Re

Just making brackets to fit and getting creative with the lower radiator hose.

You do need to start with a radiator that is close in size to what is in your vehicle now

Making sure the top outlet is on the right and bottom on lower left

Outlets cab be moved but it tends to be a pain

** Directions are from sitting in the drivers seat as the should be.

I'm looking for factory size radiator that will fit in my Tacoma and cool my v8 in any situation.

The one I have now is not big enough. The tundra radiator is too wide to fit between the frame rails. However, according to the specs on the champion site, the radiator they make for the 4runner is nearly the same size, but a bit narrower to clear the frame. Unfortunately, the inlet/outlet are on the wrong side. However, I know a good welder, and as long as the transmission cooler is not in the way, I feel like I could have them swapped.
