Aiight fellas, i actually got some work done.

-Changed the oil (4qts of oil if memory serves)
    -Changed the fuel filter
    -Fixed the rear tire(leaked air)

Alright now for the real problem, I bought a battery a couple months ago and for some reason, the truck won't crank up on it's own unless i give it a jump with my rig. Its not the alternator because i disconnected the (+) when it was running.

Today i came home from college and tried to crank it up, naturally it wouldn't start, so i jump it off using my truck. I let the truck on it's own for a while, and then i cut it off so i could change the fluids. I attempted to crank it up so i could move it out of the tall grass and just made a clicking sound( like a dead battery sound). I couldn't believe it. I changed the fluids right where it was but i still dont understand what the problem could be.

Any tips/suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Your battery needs a good long slow charge... I got a new battery and mine did the exact same thing and even when I would drive for around 30+ minutes it still wouldn't crank back up. Got the battery tested & it was fine so I replaced the alternator & voltage regulator and it still didn't fix it. Finally I borrowed the battery from our farm truck and put mine on charge(slow setting) for overnight & all day the next day. Been fine for months!

Whew! alright, i won't be back home for a couple weeks to see the change so I'm gonna just put it on the charger and see what happens.

Until i get time to actually work on the truck (winter break) she'll stay the way she is for now. Just making sure i've got all the mechanical stuff sorted out before i start modding it all out.

Don't do this. It can become expensive quick... Especially on newer vehicles.

Disconnecting the battery can disable the voltage regulator, the alternator can produce a power spike and damage electrical components.

nope, it's been chilling at my parents house, i've been paying it off (credit purposes) and making sure it's mechanically sound before dropping one penny into building it.
