Im gonna obsess about something else...typical floor construction is an aluminum honeycomb that figures to be extremely rigid. The calculations I have run with the standard RCI bed rack secures 62% of the floor area of the tent. The pics below show much less fastened and is on a smaller vehicle. We shall see. I am of the belief that I wont have any problems.

I don't see much issue, I would just make it a habit to sleep on the supported side just as a precaution.

Something funny. When we got pictures of the tent on the 4runner we just set it on his cross bars. Figured it would be just fine, I crawled up to open the front window for the picture and wasn't thinking and sat on the front of the tent where it wasn't being supported and nearly rode the tent down the windshield to the ground if it wasn't for his light at mount keeping me in place after it tilted

I'm thinking replacement walls made of fine mesh, for summer camping.

Any suggestions on how to store a hard RTT in a garage and still leaving the bed rack intact with the truck?

I've seen hoists designed to mount on your garage ceiling that would work well. Just unbolt from the rack and hoist it up out of the way, like a jeep hard top.

You could make a cradle for it so it sits upright against the wall.

Picture of most of the fabric unzipped

The fabric actually helps keep the tent in place preventing full extension, so it isn't recommended to just leave it open. I would really like to see a full winter and half/full summer version that uses mostly mesh with solid fabric in places to keep it rigid

I'm still in for the full order. I'm sorry to be weighing in days later but I never received any email notifications and have been working a bunch the last several days. My bad for not checking back in man.

Also (and if I missed this answer to the question already please excuse having to answer it again), when will you be needing payment for the full order?

Maybe at a later time, it just depends. Yes group buy is open for interest but will have to wait until I receive the updated tent

Funny you ask that, I was going to take a picture of that last night because that's where you also unclip the bottom of the fabric. So the edge has a lip and the fabric goes over it so not much of a chance of water getting over it.

    I'll grab a picture

Also need to get the mount dimensions along with the distance from the mount to the end of the shell

    4-3/4"X1"

12" to the end of the bottom of the shell but 13" to the end of the top of the shell

Crappy picture but you can see how the fabric is clipped over the lip. So for waster being built up around the rim isn't an issue because water wouldn't have any way of getting over. The only place where water can get in is by the window but if it's raining you should have the window down anyways
