    Yes, this... exactly this...

The possibilities, literally combine my want of a trailer, with my want of a flatbed setup for wheeling...

One thing I thought of though... would be nice to have the spare still on the truck though...

And would you be able to have a RTT on the canopy and have it on jacks at camp and it be stable and safe?

Bet @ChandlerDOOM could do that easily. He just left the shop with my flatbed trailer. So stoked to get to see his tray and canopy soon.

No, more like the first pictures but with a hardshell RTT on it.

Essentially to be able to get to camp, take it off the truck, setup awning, and setup RTT and be able to sleep at night with it off the truck.

Too easy. Just add one of his hard shell RTT's and you're gold.

    Also true...

But my main thing is I want to be able to take it off the truck at camp and leave it off the truck and use it as base camp to where I am able to sleep in the RTT and such with it not on the actual bed of truck.

Also guess I would need to put the Spare tire on the cab rack so I could have a Spare tire with me when the canopy was not on the truck...

The one shown has the holes for the jacks to separate it from the tray for camping. And to my knowledge Chandler's trays will come with the same jacks for the same reason.

Just a few thoughts when it comes to removing the tray at camp to go wheel:

    1. If your setup is quick, like Chandler's hard shell RTT, and everything (stove, sink, fridge) slides out from the sides, it would be quicker to close everything up than to remove the tray.
    2. Most people keep all their recovery gear, spare parts (cv, tie rods), and tools in the bed. You would have to transfer all that stuff, the hilift, traction boards, and the spare to go wheel. Might as well take the whole tray along.
    3. If you spec your springs to handle the weight of a ute, the ride sucks with it off. I wouldn't want to wheel or DD without it. Ask me how I know... IMG_5985.jpgIMG_6341.jpg IMG_6823.jpg Takeoff driveline vibes were bad and the Kings could barely keep the ride quality acceptable. Unloading the rear also lowered the front by about 1-1/2". Not ideal offroad, obviously. I didn't really expect that. Also, the headlight distance decreased significantly since they were pointed at the ground.
    4. If the intent of removing it is for occasionally hauling stuff, then it's perfect for that.
I think this is awesome and would just build the rig so you can wheel with it on. Wouldn't want to leave the beer behind at camp anyways. I've been wheeling with heavy campers on my truck and with others that were around the same weight. Not saying it didn't hinder me offroad, but I don't know any different.

    Just my humble opinion.

Good thing I did a load plan prior to leaving, it was just enough to get it all. Delivered two tents so far, 6 to go
