This is what i do already on stock gears. What gets me is the computer will downshift to 4th, get a few mph above the cruise limit so it goes to 5th (causing it to slow back down) then back to 4th. Its an endless cycle unless we manually put it in 4th to keep it there.

I know the struggle, ha. I was leaning towards 4.88s eventually, but i never thought of that being the same as leaving it in 4th on stock gears. The benefit though would be a slower crawl with the 4.88s

    Right on the money
It's like the system has a delay so soon as it goes into 5th it doesn't maintain the speed it just relaxes and than the system is like gotta downshift again.

I mean the lower gear would nice offroad but it's a DD that does 35-40k a year and that's between another vehicle too. A FJ and crawl box is in the plans anyways so I'll be alright

yup those will definitely make up the difference. I dont see myself going that far to add a crawl box, but if the transfer case ever has issues i wont mind swapping it out.

But weve all said that before.

I figured if your going through the trouble to do twin sticks you might as well just do the crawl box while your at it.

That's going to end up costing more. Better to do the locker while you have the diff apart for gears, other wise you have to do another install kit down the road if doing a locker later.

How much of a pita was it to get the dust covers off to access the 35mm nut? I tried doing mine late one night and gave up cause it was pissing me off.

See but saving for what I want doesn't include a 8" clamshell but more of a D60

I grabbed a flathead bit that had the most point and went in at an angle, Once I got it started i used a larger flat head and kept prying it by twisting the flathead. maybe a chisel would work better

Do you mind sharing how you mounted the twin arb. I have tried making templates and mounting brackets for the same spot you have yours but no luck :(

I only have the single so thats probably where you are having issues  But I used the mounting plate that comes with the compressor (not sure if the twin has one) and bolted it through the fender and mounted the compressor. That space has a bunch of room so you may have luck doing the same, you'll likely have to mount it as close to the hood as possible.

You may have to move some things out of the way to make it work

Finally got around to getting my bumps install, glad thats over. Fuck rivets. I had to flex it out to give myself enough room under the leaf to drill out the holes, very time consuming but shit is done.

Tomorrow will be Diff/transfercase oil change, remove mid/rear skid plates, adjust rack, fix my switch connector, clean out the truck, and I'm sure something else that I didn't plan to do
