So went to see my truck's frame replacement progress, end of 2nd day there. I asked for shocks and struts and coil springs while they're doing this. I get there and they're done, but didn't change the coils.
2008, 142k km. They said they were good, not cracked, and parts dept forgot to add them. Should I get them changed, or is it no biggie?
Oh, and they didn't change my leaf springs, which were supposed to be part of the package, because they did a leaf spring recall a couple years back.

springs should be done as its part of the package and if not i know of guys that have aftermarket leafpacks and the dealer just put the leaf pack from the package in the back of the truck for them. and if you asked them to do the c oils they should have regardless if they need them. you asked for it to be done.

If you asked for it then it should have been done.

So i went back to them first thing this morning, explained all this, and the manager said well we can do it, but have to charge labour cause it's not part of what gets removed. Unless I would've bought the coil assembly attached to the shock. Wish I'd known. Says it's 1.5hrs labour /side, but he'd only charge 2hrs. So I asked if he'd honour this later if I think about it and he agreed.

Well he’s screwing you, had they done their job and ordered the parts like you asked them to assembling the coilover takes 15 minutes, I can see paying some labor to assemble the parts but he’s charging like you came in and they had to completely remove them and and install. But hey it’s your call if you wanna hold their feet to the fire. Good luck.

I didn’t know shock/struts and coil over replacement was part of the frame replacement?

They're not. I'm paying for those, but not the labour part. Except they didn't do the coils as asked, and now want to charge labour to take everything off to change the coils. Should've been minimal labour charge, as gotoman1969 said.

There really isn't any reason to change out the coils. Not much of a wear item. I personally would spend my energy elsewhere.

Wow Trdsurgie, now you got me wondering. I figure over $700 just to add/change the coils, and that's them charging 1.5hrs instead of 3.
    Edit.

There, cancelled the coils, paid my bill, super happy with the truck (drive home anyways). Will know more, but the new much needed tires sure feel nice. Went from bald bf Goodrich AT 245 to same at 265-70-16 ko2.
