I have a 2011 Tacoma with 55k miles. I consistently get 21-22 mpg while driving in the city. I purchased new tires and got any alignment 10 months ago. Immediately, the gas mileage went to around 17 mpg. I checked the tire pressure, changed the air filter, and changed the spark plugs with no change. Note: the alignment was done at a Toyota dealership. Has anyone had this occur to them?

Did you get a bigger tire size? Maybe E load instead of usual C, making them heavier due to the 10 ply.

Clean The mass air flow sensor and throttle body. Maybe a thing of sea foam.

The tire size changed from a 265 to a 245. But on paper the mpg should have increased by 1 percent.

But with a smaller tire it will take more rpm to go the same distance.:notsure:

    265 what to a 245 what?

    What was the OE size?

    Same type tire?

MPG hand calculated a fill, not MPT guesswork, right?

No suspicion of dragging brakes ? (hot corner, extra dust up front, etc)

Have you tested your speedo/odo vs GPS?

P265/75R16 to LT245/75R16. Gas mileage was calculated at every fill up. I have check the speedo/odo vs GPS. I will check the brake conditions.

Also compare weights on the two tire types. Suspect the newer may be heavier, even though smaller.

    Was 245 the OE size?
