I love the MT in my taco. The reverse couldve been s bit lower and 6th speed could been a bit higher. Other then that its very pleasant to drive, shifts like butter. Pretty much same tow ratings. If you dont live a city with lots of stop and go traffic, inl think its a no brainer. You get 4.3 rear end which gives you more of that low end power thats missing in the AT. Good luck ! :canada:

I'm not a big audio guy so I don't really care and would rather take the discount it gives us on the Premium package with the MT. That being said... Yeah I've never heard the explanation on why they can't include the JBL system with the MT. Makes me wonder though with the new radios coming in 2020 what they'll do.

MT are cheaper, when I got mine it was about 3k cheaper. The MT off-road 4x4 with tech was 31.5 and the AT off-road 4x4 was just shy of 35. That’s My experience anyway. I assume he means if he sells he can get good enough resale that he largely can keep the same time price of his loan.

I got the AT so my wife could drive. Trading would clearly be a bad financial decision, but what’s the point in having a $35k truck you don’t enjoy? Yolo

I work at a Toyota dealership and have driven the automatics quite often and at the end of day when I hop in my manual I am so happy. I love it.

I agree mate, it is a weak argument. I always feel like the blokes who say this haven’t really done a manual in heavy traffic. They just imagine it and think ‘nope’.

Get your truck detailed so it looks new again and hang a shifter ball off the rear view mirror .

Yeah the MT is about a grand less than a AT...But still how do you trade up for 0 loss? No dealership is going to swap even for what your thinking! You took a big hit as soon as you drove off the lot with your 2018!
There's no magic formula, unless your a millennial and think everything should be free!

More like 2-3k less (2k is Toyota msrp, 3k appears at dealer comparison) and the MT don’t move as quickly. Mine was on the lot for quite some time. I think it’s entirely doable to get close. I bought mine for 31.5 plus TTL and KBB dealer trade in is 30.5-31.5 so while it would take some good negotiating as KBB rarely is what you can do I think it’s possible to get close. These cars don’t lose their value quickly and if you negotiated a deal on your 18 moving down to a MT and using the 2-3 k change in price can cover a good bit. The problem I see is when they include TTL if that’s a large sum in your state / how much do you owe on the truck.

My sons are millennials, and even they don't think like that...

When I said "effectively a zero loss", I probably should have added "to me", or not even mentioned. The financials aren't really a deciding factor anyway, the MT is...

MT in this truck is fun to drive, make daily commute a blast and I look forward to driving my truck everyday. Overall, not a PRO fan and think they are a waste of money, but do it!!

I grew up driving manuals. My current taco is an auto and I'm not going back. EVER.
