Everyone it was a fuse. The fuse makes the brake override act up not letting the vehicle start or makes it so u can not put car into gear.... a/transmission obviously. The car would only start when i bypassed the start button by holding it for 30 secs. Then i could remove the cap by the shifter to release it from park and the car was able to move out of the drive way. After putting the car in park it would be stuck again. The fuse swap was done free by toyota and they told me it may or may not have been because of the aftermarket parts i put.

The driver tail light was the only bulbs that were switched

So you simply pulled a tail light bulb out and put a new one back in and then you couldn't start the truck?

    What type/brand of bulb?

    Genuinely curious.

My first mistake was not unplugging the battery. The new housing come with bulbs already intergraded into the housing. When i pressed on the break the light blew the fuse. Moral of the story always unplug battery for electrical work Or just let a professional do it

What do you mean by "integrated into the housing"? I haven't had my tail lights pulled yet but plan to install new reverse bulbs.

I bought new housing with some led strip inside housing so it has a connection that u plug into place where the bulb goes.

You bought those aftermarket led tails didn’t you? Just search up the name of the brand and truck won’t start I’m sure you’ll find the solution, I don’t remember off the top of my head but I think positive and negative are backwards

Pretty sure that will blow a fuse as soon as the light was energized.
Wouldn't matter whether you disconnected the battery, as soon as one of the lights come on it will short and blow the fuse... luckily!

These trucks do not like certain aftermarket lights, you can do a search and find similar results from others.

I know if you install a led backwards in any vehicle you will have issues.
Ohm it out before installing to be sure.

Exactly and that’s what happened to him, there’s a brand that comes reversed from the manufacturer so I’m assuming that’s the ones he bought

I have the exact same issue on my new 2018 Tacoma off road after Changed tail lights to LED’s. Then would start and says brake override system malfunction. How did the dealer fix it? Was it the fuse or computer
