I have a 2001 tacoma V6 trd double cab street use only. I just finished tightening everything up after replacing the power steering pump and all 3 belts. A.C. , Alternater, and power steering. I disconnected the air cleaner and just layer it up out of the way, took the power steering pump out and replaced, then replaced all belts. PUT it all back together and she will not stay running. Fires up then quits....!!!! Help!!!!!! Anybody got a clue?????? I surely appreciate any feedback and guidance. Thanks. LEON.

look for leaks in the intake system, or a disconnected sensor in that area.

Since the 90s most vehicles don't like pulling unmetered air. They don't get enough fuel.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just maybe this site may be pretty cool and useful. I hope so. I could sure use some pointers about now. Now, the only thing I could say I didn't follow directions on out of the Haynes book is,,,,,I did Not disconnect the negative battery cable before doing the work that I discribed. Could that have caused some sensor to go bonkers?????? Come back if ya can. LEON

    Shame... Shame... Shame... :bananadead:

Just kidding OP, I hope you figure out the issue. I always disconnect mine when dealing with mechanical work in the engine bay just to be on the safe side. I wouldn't think it would have tripped a sensor unless some wires were exposed.

Ha! I also hope I figure this issue out. I wonder if I disconnect the negative battery terminal and let her sit for an hour, if that may put any affected sensors back where they belong.

It's always worth a shot. It may just need to be reset, so I would try it out. Just disconnect it for a minute or two and then try again.

I just disconnected the negative battery cable and I'll leave her sit for the night and reconnect it in the morning and give it a crank. Hopefully some magic may happen,. Ha!

Did you disconnect the MAF connector, and forget to re-connect? Just a thought

I don't know what a MAF connector is or where it's located. But thanks for your reply. Could you clarify a bit more please? Thanks

MAF sensor= Mass Air Flow sensor

You mentioned disconnecting the intake, and thats where the MAF is, just down-stream from the filter housing. I have a 2.7 motor, so I'm not sure exactly where yours is located. Here's a photo of mine :

It right in the center of the photo, and the electrical connector is on the back. You may have disconnected it as part of your project.
