I changed the oil in the supercharger today. I followed the sticky made by SManZ and even used the same kit w/ ACDelco oil. I sucked out all the old oil and filled it up till it started coming out the fill port then buttoned everything up and started it up. It all sounded fine then I heard a rather loud rattle then it went away but came back 30 to 40 seconds later and it continued to come and go lasting maybe 2 seconds each time. I took it for a short drive and it did fine no issues AFR's were good no bad vibrations or sounds. I parked it back at the house left it idle and stood in front with the hood closed and could still hear the rattle come and go. Anyone have any ideas?

How many miles are on the SC? Curious if the oil looked bad compared to the new oil? As for the rattle come and go, is it clock work every 30 seconds?

Your snout's coupling/damper may be wearing out. There is a write-up about how to replace it, if I recall properly, here in the performance section.

Scroll down to the "supercharger coupler". I am just guessing based off of history. See if you can pinpoint the noise for certain .

S/C has 20k on it. The new oil is clear as water the old oil had the same color as used motor oil a light/medium brown. It was roughly 30 to 40 before I heard it again. I'm going to get my mechanics stethoscope and check it this evening.

I purchased the coupler when I ordered the oil change kit. I was going to replace it but once I got down to unbolting the nose drive I started with the 13mm nut and it didn't break loose from the stud the stud and nut both started to come out together and there isn't enough room to remove them together. So I just changed the oil.

Update to this thread I found the noise a few weeks ago while trying to diagnose my new problem....and actually the girlfriend found it. Strange as it may sound but the fan was inconsistently hitting a hose clamp that had some how ever so slightly shifted or the fan has just a little play in it. I couldn't move the hose clamp by hand or feel that the fan and any play in it but I moved the hose clamp ever so slightly and it tightened down and the sound is gone.
