Changed the battery in my 2017 Tacoma. Everything went wrong.

OP, thank you for the update. $250 in parts, glad you did not do further damage.

This just in, the new Tacomas have the same biodegradable wiring.

I worked at a fast lube place once and was the only guy in the shop due to illnesses. Got slammed, and in the chaos I forgot to spin a new filter on a 7.3 powerstroke. Filled it up, turned the key, and heard the worst sound you could ever hear as a pit tech. 15ish quarts spraying all the shelves, tools, walls, and floor of the pit under the truck. I almost quit on the spot.

I repeat it is not so bad wiping up new oil. Used oil much worse. Ask me how I know.

You telling me every bit of insulation in the engine compartment going to get crispy and turn to dust in a few short years? Great!

Now the volume in my radio quit working. Hopefully this one is the dealerships mistake.

Some people are not decent human beings too, but I agree. I hate it when the topic of discussion gets derailed and the post gets filled with no info to help an educate the forum known as Tacoma World. C'mon Dudes! stay focus or stay off. $.02

Hardly! You miss the EDUCATIONAL part of my post which was to benefit TW in general and not specifically about batteries, nuff said otherwise you'll be right, God Bless :)

TW had the problem figured out on the first page. Then TW got on board trying to make the OP feel better by sharing some mistakes they have made. OP then revealed the cast and fix. How is any of this not helping everyone in TW. A community of enthusiasts helping a fellow member and each other. Sounds pretty good to me!

I think with stuff like this, the cognitive load is so low and the amount of technical experience needed to chime in is so low, that everyone comes and gives their opinion. Look at the more technical problem solving threads. Way less drama. Ovtune thread aside haha. Even that is only the auto thread.

Didn't read the entire thread but this exact same thing happened to my wife's rogue. Car went into what google was saying is anti-theft mode and if you tried to start all the electronics and lights would go crazy non stop and the dic was saying invalid key fob.

Her fix was easy to diagnose which I guess could be interpreted as a loose electrical connection. Popped the hood to disconnect the battery so the car would stop freaking out and the positive battery terminal had 3 inches of corrosion on it. Brushed off the corrosion and the terminal disintegrated. Had the car towed to Nissan were they replaced under warranty.

I guess they don't check the battery when you take the car in for oil changes

Some people want every thread to be a chapter in a repair manual. It takes all kinds to make the world go around just as it takes all kinds to keep this place interesting. Skip over what you don’t like and take in the rest. Nobody is forcing anyone to read anything. Virtue signal on and prosper.
