Toyota did it so we have something to talk about on Tacomaworld, that's my thinking.

Because we all know its either oil, spark plugs or octane talk around here.

Make sure you roll with copper plugs like the original ones. Denso or NGK. I used cheap autolite plugs for about 20,000 miles, and my truck ran kind of rough. I got tired of it and went to Autozone with the original spark plug part # for the Denso plugs, and they tried to upsell me on platinum plugs that were around $13 each. I told them the owners manual specifically called for copper plugs, and they looked at me like I was crazy. They were all skeptical when they plugged the number into their computer, and sure enough, it showed up as OEM. It didnt even come up on their list of recommended plugs for the truck. Turns out they also didn't even carry the original plugs in store, and had to order them from an outside vendor. The plugs only cost like $3 each. Plugs came in a few days later, I switched out the cheap autolite plugs, and my truck loved it. Seriously, get the cheap copper plugs the truck calls for. Changing out plugs every 30,000 miles is worth the performance the intended plugs give.

Autozone sold me the Denso SK20HR-11 plugs, the manual calls for Denso K20HR-U11, truck runs fine, guess I'll see how long these last. Anyone give these plugs a try?

I was referring to the guy that said they have less issues with the one over the other (nkg vs denso)

these 2 are the best reasons i can think of. When you are a manufacturer buying plugs by the millions, they are basically throwing both companies a bone
