You are entitled to your opinion and if you want to wait, that is your choice. Keep in mind, just because you wait doesn't mean you will get a trouble free vehicle. You have warranty, and it will take care of any issues. The only reason I haven't bought yet is because I can't decide if I want the Tech package or not, factory tonneau or not, and what color. I know I will have the truck for the next 15 plus years, so I want to make sure I know what I want.

Get the tech, buy the Tonneau aftermarket and buy MGM. Now go and buy one! ;) Seriously, the tech package you get will be more worth it further down the road for resale and better ownership experience. The factory cover needs your bed modified so if you change your mind you can't undo cut out sections.

I said MGM because it's not black, or silver, it's in between. I did quicksand but that's not everyone's choice.

You traded your Colorado because of a door seal? Don't know what it cost your, but that seems pretty minor to me.

tech package or not wont matter in the long run on resale. what matters is your satisfaction during the years of owner ship of having that or adding it aftermarket.
we went full bore and picked up the JBL cause we didn't want to deal with aftermarket stereo or the base line unit.

we skimped on the 2012 Tacoma and after the 1st year of ownership, the warden promised herself she wouldn't skimp this time around and deal with not having the features she should have ordered from the get go.

we intend to keep this one longer since we checked off all the boxes looking at it from a long term perspective. and I don't normally buy rims unless I intend to keep it longer than 3-4 years.

and to add, paint protection film needs to be replaced, they are sending someone up to put a new one on.

also the sun/moon roof rattles over bumps, have an appt. to have that checked out.

minor issues all in all. but that's all covered in the minor adjustment clause on new Toyota vehicle purchase (12m/12k miles)

Agreed. If some issues get fixed in the coming year, bonus! If not, then I will "know" that they are here to stay and may be more content to go ahead and make a purchase. I'm a patient person, so if I wait and things improve, then my patience will have paid off. If I wait and things remain unchanged, then no real loss instead of having the enjoyment of the vehicle for an additional year.

No, no, no! GO Barcelona Red!!!! I agree with aftermarket Tonneau. There are better configurations out there and your bed wont be cut up.

Had a 2011 BMW without some of the razzle dazzle tech and premium stuff. Can definitely tell you for that particular car it affected it's used market value and reduced the amount of potential buyers. A lot of folks would call me up when it was for sale and express disappointment and disbelief when I told them it didn't have Navigation. Trucks to cars comparison not the most direct but I think it's telling of where we're at today in vehicles and what people expect in them.

Anytime water gets past a door seal it is not good. Also I didn't like the way GM installed the black vinyl on the floor, cheap seat back levers, seat hurt my back and legs, didn't like a steel cable for a oil dipstick, the gas tank door was a cheap piece of plastic I could see it breaking someday. The silver paint looked wavy in the sun. I could not get my hand in to check the serpentine belt. It was a mistake buying a chevy colorado. Why keep a truck that makes you miserable?

Ford will be producing a Ranger in 2018 then in 2020 the Bronco. I bet the Ranger will be big like the gm twins though. I liked them little.

I think ill wait for a gen 10 taco so they can work out the issues... oh wait, but maybe a gen 10 will have its own..

Seriously though, i typically avoided new models of ant motor vehicle ive purchased but there have been a couple times i didnt (this being one of those).

The truck has been great, and with a warranty; if any issues, arise i expect they will be handled.

There is plenty of time to make a decision to buy this new Tacoma. After all, it will be around for another 10 years

you hit the nail on the head. i went from a 2008 V6 automatic to the 2016 V6 automatic and there is a difference. my work around is driving in the shift mode and rarely using 6th gear, just on open highway. when in auto mode it shifts into 6th at 45mph then if you want to speed up you have to put a good bit of pedal in it and then the engine revs way up on the downshift. very frustrating so shift mode works fine for me. by the way ETC sucks, cruise down the highway doing 45mph at 2300 rpm vs about 1600 rpm in 5th shift mode.

I bought an 09 Tacoma. 5 years after the 05 redesign. Had tranny shifting issues.... rode like crap ect. Maybe I should have waited until 10 years after the redesign.

4000 miles on mine and love it! No issues, just a learning curve for me on the auto shifting with the 6 speed. I move the lever into shift mode and use it to get onto on ramps and shifting in traffic. Works great and doesn't need the clutch. Everything is perfect on it. I didn't want the moon roof or the factory cover. Would have liked JBL, but that was not an option when I got mine in September. I want to put a rollup gator cover on it.

The problem is that only about 1% of vehicle owners join forums like this. The folks that don't are the vast majority of vehicle owners who aren't enthusiasts...simply car owners. I suspect that they go through life liking their new trucks without complaint. The folks on this site dissect everything to the n'th degree and are incredibly analytical and critical of issues. Honestly, if you're afraid of any and all issues brought up in any particular car forum, you'll never buy anything!
BTW...2600 km on mine in 3 weeks and everything works perfectly and I'm loving the truck.

My 2015 had a "buzzing" somewhere behind the dash. That drove me nuts.

The 2016 has a slight wind howl between 35-45. I prefer the howl over the buzzing. I have no regrets and would not sell my truck back to Toyota for any issue I have,

My local dealer seems to have heard at their regional training with Toyota corporate that Toyota is planning power seats for the 2017 year.

That it was left out due to the push to get the 2016s out to market. They were told this by the regional rep.

If you get power seats the rise, and they roll the long bed in the Limited, you'd have a winner in my book.

2017 isn't really that far off considering they'll start press releases in March/April.

If the 2018 Ranger is a proper small-but-capable truck, I'll let you know how that legendary Toyota resale value holds up :)

But I think you're right, they'll make it 2000s f150 size and I'll stick with what I've got. I have zero major complaints with the taco, I just wanted a new small truck and nobody makes them anymore.
