Hi all. I have a 2009 4x4 manual Tacoma access cab and want to switch the 2.7 for the v6. With this switch be simple and will I have to switch the transmission also? Any advice is appreciated

If this isn't a hopeless troll, it is insane.

Trade for a V6 truck. Swapping to a V8 is mildly interesting. Don't try to custom-build a truck that you can buy at any dealer.

Most likely the V6 will not bolt up to your 4 cyl transmission, also there are not a lot of V6's out there with a manual transmission, if any. Your best bet would be to find a donor truck, one that has been wrecked or something and scavenge all the parts off of it needed for the swap. Engine, ECUs, Transmission, motor mounts ETC. If you want to keep from converting your truck to automatic after the swap you could try to find a wrecked X runner, which is going to be very very very difficult, they come in V6 with a manual transmission.

As others have already stated, it might be more cost effective to just trade your truck in for a V6.

The switch is actually very, very easy and requires no tools and virtually no mechanical knowledge whatsoever. All you do is go out to your drive way, start the truck, drive to your local dealership, tell them you want the same model of truck you have now but with a V6, sign some papers and drive off in your new V6 Tacoma.

I wonder if this is the same guy that wanted to buy a 4wd selector switch so he would have a 4x4!

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
How long have you even had it? Give it some time, you may grow to like it. I love my 4 banger and wouldn't have it any other way, if I wanted real power for towing and hauling I'd just go all out and get a F150 or Tundra with a V8...

    ....seriously....

if your going to go through that trouble...just take the "top Secret" v12 engine out of a Supra and put it in the truck

but in all seriousness a friend of mine had a Chevy 350 in his 92 pickup.. it was pretty bad ass but not worth the money he blew into it...

A big truck is not the only sign of a small penis :p

Also op, isn't there still some warranty left on your truck? I vote trade it in as well if you must have moar power.

I take your points. If I wanted more power I should have gotten a bigger truck. For several reasons that isn't now an option. What else should I do to get more power out of the smaller engine?
