While not strictly "needed," they are recommended. At only a couple of dollars each, they're cheap insurance.

Mine took only 2.5 quarts. I let her sit overnight and that's all I'll take. So what? There's .5 quarts of old dirty fluid still there?

Has anyone used the toyota brand differetial oil? Or should I use a different brand? Is synthetic ok for a 2014 tacoma sport 4x2 with lsd? Read this thread, but confused if synthetic is good or bad for the raer differential. Thanks in advance

Has anyone used the toyota brand differetial oil?
Other than my vehicles' initial/factory fill, I have not.

Or should I use a different brand?
Opinions vary on which ones are the "best," but there are certainly better brands available.

Is synthetic ok for a 2014 tacoma sport 4x2 with lsd?
    YES!

Read this thread, but confused if synthetic is good or bad for the raer differential.
Synthetic lubrication is almost universally considered better than dino oils, but it's also more expensive. The real question for each of us is whether the benefits are worth the cost. LOTS of threads available to help you decide.

at 30K used Toyota brand with LSD Additive. At 60K used Valvoline High Performance 80W-90 gear oil because dealer wanted a fortune for their magical gear oil. Also added the LSD additive I did buy from Dealer. Synthetic should be fine as it meets all specifications of "regular" gear oil.

Thought I read that 2014 doesn't need LSD additive?

    Correct. '09+ doesn't require it.

    Sorry I have a 2011 TRD Sport.

When dealer did the 30K they used the additive so I copied what they did for the 60K.

Anyone used Mobil 1 synthetic with good results? And do you need the pump with that bottle? Also, what are the changing intervals for the oil if I don't off road or tow? My tacoma is my daily road driver.

Mobil 1 gear oil is perfectly fine for your diff and I would change it every 30-50k depending on how you use your truck. JMO.
