I wouldn't use the additive. for that matter, I don't listen to what the dealer says. half the time they don't know what they're talking about.

You can run whatever you like. The auto LSD is an open diff that uses brake modulation to control slip.

So, turns out the TRD stickers on my truck are TRD Sport stickers and not TRD Off Road. Still, I don't see any 'LSD' sticker on the rear differential. Are all Sport models from 05-08 equipped with a LSD? I'm assuming it wouldn't be that hard for the LSD sticker to come off, if it was ever there.

I'm a little confused too. Fog light and clutch start cancel -- that's it. I added a pic to my profile for the disbelievers :tinfoilhat:

I could crawl under, but don't really want to. Good idea about the spare. Thanks :homer:

Just finished doing this. Pretty easy DIY job. The only thing I'm wondering about is the Lucas 80W-90 oil I used said 'Excellent for use in limited slip differentials. No special additive needed.' Anyone know if that is a true statement? I didn't add anything to the oil for the LSD on account of this.

Don't think that's actual TRD OffRoad...is there an outlet on the passenger side rear of the bed either?

If not...I'm guessing you bought used and got the shaft...sticker should look like this...

Chris i promised i looked, i probably missed it but do you use all of the 3 quarts? And also i know you dont recommend synthetic for LSD but what about a E-Locker rear, synthetic good for that?

So I went threw all 54 pages on this topic and seams like everyone is saying different things and I can't get a clear answer, please help
I have a 05 TRD off road Manuel Trans (with push button locking diff)
I know I have to use 75 90 but no one seams to if I put LSD additive or not ? Or the oil with the additive already in it ? Or do i not use any additive? Can someone tell me?
And also do I use the same gear oil in the transfer case?
Please some straight up answers on my 05 please
    Greatly appreciated

    Too few to list.
You can use the same oil in the trans, axles, t-case. I usually use Redline for the trans and t-case but use something cheaper (dino or synthetic)for the axles that's readily available.

Hey guys, I just stopped but the dealership today to pick up some oil for my 30K maintenance interval. I'm going with Toyota brand because I was given a lifetime warranty on the drive train so this truck should last me the rest of my life. Lol. Anyway, the dealership told me they use 75w-140 in the doffs and transfer case. I told him the manual suggests 75w-85. I told him I want a service letter that states to use 75w-140. Is there something we don't know about?
