For those of you with LSD's the Mobil 1 LS seems to be hit and miss but quite a few say the Royal Purple with additive works good. Just fill and then rotate the axles to disperse and check the level again. If you feel any kind of shudder on take off or hear gear chatter then more additive is needed.

So if you need it and don't have it in what happens?

This "any kind of shudder on take off or hear gear chatter". I assume also that it might not lockup correctly.

I have a shudder on take off, but I only got that after I changed leaf springs. I don't even know if I have a LSD.

You hitch a ride to the auto parts store or since its pretty cheap you go ahead and buy it but adding it to the diff requires removing some of the oil and then putting it back.

Your issue is due to lift, shims or carrier bearing drop to fix that.

Changed the rear diff oil, very easy to do! Put in 3 quarts of 75w-90 valvolene non synthetic was used and I'll start changing it yearly instead of every 30k

Should I be worried about that small circle of metal stuck to the magnet? Cleaned off the normal looking metal from the magnet.

For me, i get Mobil 1 at the local wholesale place for $8 a quart. So $48 bucks, compared to $20 a quart at the loacal Autozone. All depends on your choice of oil. Oh and i already had a hand pump which makes things much easier. From Wal-mart marine isle for about $8.

I went to Wal Mart to try and get the gear oil but I found that my local walmart didn't have any selection of gear oil. I ended up going to AutoZone and picked up Valvoline dino oil 80w-90 for like $5.99 a quart

I was having some trouble getting the fill bolt loose to check my fluid. Asked my dad for help. Long story short, my differential plug is still stuck, and now its perfectly round...

Tack weld a new nut on to remove. Then replace and dont over tighten. What did you use to try and remove?

I had the same problem bud. I used a breaker bar and the nut came off before i rounded off the plug.

I'm planning on changing mine. I've already sprayed everything Involved with PB Blaster and will do so a couple more times over the next couple weeks until I do the job.

A 50 / 50 of automatic transmission fluid and acetone is the best stuff to get rusted bolts Un stuck.
