I don't drain the oil, I just change the filter every other week. There's about a half quart in there so about every 10 weeks all the old oil is getting replaced with new

I got a case of Fram filters at a garage sale down the street for 10 bucks

To prove that oil was purchased, should a warranty claim be necessary.

Went out back one day and was shooting for some food and up from the ground came the bubbling crude. Oil that is.

Do engine, trans(if manual) and diffs at 1000. The chunks that came out of the diffs in particular were impressive.

You are aware that oil additive packages degrade after a few years making the motor oil less effective to do its job. You'd need a fleet of vehicles to use up that much oil before it goes south.

218000 miles worth of oil, assuming 5.5 qt change (I'm guessing here). That's a lot of space in the garage I would rather have, lol.

Keep in mind, unopened motor oil has a shelf life of about 5 years.

Yea, on a fuel pump that has nothing to do with the oil…

No, obviously for any warranty claim related to the engine components lined by that oil.

Yes, and no. Im sure it does degrade some, but not to the point it is not doing its job. Plus it's getting changed at 5k intervals after the first at 1k, not going 10k. If it were not full synthetic I'd be more inclined to worry.

I'll have to look at the dates on the bottles now and see out of curiosity.

Probably depends on the initial type oil quality, similar to regular 87 grade fuel vs 92, or better. Have been told by experts way smarter than myself that they would not use a motor oil after 5 years. I asked even if in a sealed container never opened....I never got an answer.

As a member of BITOG forums I have read on there that mixing different brands of oil sometimes will negate the additive packs in the oil.
It won’t hurt the engine but it may affect the usefulness or life (since most 0W-20 applications use an extended interval) of the oil. Different additives may “fight” each other and reduce their effectiveness.

@2023tacomer…..if you’re not stretching OCI’s to the limit it’s nothing to consider. I personally think a 5k interval with cheaper oil is better that 10k with something pricy like Amsoil.
My though process on this is many of the UOA results posted on BITOG for DI engines show significant fuel dilution.
