This is what I did. Only thing I did different is to use clear tubing.

Some of you are missing the fact that the OP has a 4 cyl, not a V6. Oil filter on 4 cyl is removed from below.

Any suggestions for accessing the oil filter on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma? Has anyone tried accessing the oil filter from behind the passenger tire? Like most of you, doing this work is not so much about saving a few bucks but rather maintaining some independence. Warm regards, Theo

had a friend with an FJ when i was a tech, use to hate having to always remove his skid plate after an oil change because it always poured into there and would drip on his driveway. threw a piece of smaller fuel line or something i had tucked it down the side of the engine bay an said blast some brake cleaner down the hole and should be clear after each change.

Dang, I feed dumb for not seeing the drain connection on the Oil Filter for the V6, definitely going to install a clear tube and letting it drain down that.

Pretty sure it's 3/8" or 5/16" tubing for the drain nipple on the V6 Oil Filter Cup. Friendly FYI
