So I am fixing to change my oil for the first time and was wondering what everyone uses for their truck. I've used Pennzoil Platinum for all my other vehicles but considering going to Mobil One.

    yay oil thread

Use what your manual suggests for your engine and change at an interval they suggest.

Myself, I have been using Penzoil Ultra Platinum as I got about 3 years worth for cheap at Walmart maybe 18ish months ago. Prior to that I used Mobil 1.

I use Mobil 1 and change every 7000. Seems like if you are using quality oil and a good filter (PureONE) you should be able to go longer than the 5k intervals toyota advises. I suspect I may have opened up a can of worms with this comment. Some day I will do a blackstone analysis.

Agreed. Valvoline High Mileage synthetic blend is usually cheaper, so that's what I go with. I've been using Wix filters and haven't had a problem thus far. I just don't recommend Fram or MicroGuard.

Pennzoil Platinum is a good oil for relatively cheap. I just sent a sample of my first oil change with it to Blackstone Labs and everything came back looking good. The oil was ran for 5200 miles/9 months in temperatures ranging from +90° to -50°.

Picked up 5 of the 5 qt Penzoil Platinum at Walmart for $22.47 each, with the $2 rebate (up to $48 per household) mentioned above it comes to $2.49 a quart. They sell one quart for $7.64.

    Thanks for the heads up!

(pic shows 10W30, the 0W20 was the same price)

Valvoline synpower 5w30 every 7500, I feel guilty when I drain it because it still looks clean. There's and oil filter comparison thread floating around here somewhere. The proven oil filter winner was the oem toyota filter. But use what you want, as long as it considered a high quality filter. Aka not fram (ocod)

    Edit: oil filter comparison here
