Hey y'all, currently I run penzoil 5w30 ultra platinum in my taco which seems to be getting harder and harder to find, if I switched to mobil1 would it cause any problems ? Since im changing brands? Or should I downgrade to penzoil platinum instead of the ultra?

No, it should not affect anything if you change brands. Have you checked Home Depot? Thats where I found my Pennzoil Platinum.
I’ve used Castrol, Mobil, Pennzoil, Kendall in the last 195K with no issues

Pennzoil is a high detergent oil you should be fine to run platinum Pennzoil. I wouldn't recommend switching to Pennzoil from another brand though as it can wash deposits into the sump and clog things up. Really only see it on high mileag rigs though

I've always ran penzoil in all my vehicles so has my family, but I see most of the people on here use mobil1 I know both are top tier oils but I just don't know which would be better, I'm sure either one will be fine

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
the only thing that matters if you change from conventional to synthetic, or vise versa.

If seals are in good condition, whats the deal?
If its such a big deal, why are there blends that are just made up of dino and syn?

I can get either brand easily I just can't get the ultra platinum as easy as I used to for some reason, I've always ran synthetic everything, my truck is a daily driver it's not pushed to the extreme so either one will be fine, the main question is based on experiences which seemed to have the more preferable lol

I wouldn't think it would cause any problems. But from experience of running a high detergent oil in a motor that used a low detergent oil or a conventional oil. The new oil washed out all the deposits in the engine and pluged everything up and toasted the motor. Now I have nothing against any oil brand out there I just don't recommend high detergent oils in high mileage engines

Pennzoil Ultra is crazy expensive now. The last I bought was at PepBoys and it was $49 for a 5qt jug.

Last jug I got was close to that, and now it's harder to find and plus I don't feel like spending that much money on oil

I buy whatever synthetic oil that's on sale. Won't hurt anything imo. May also want to get an oil analysis done by Blackstone labs. They recommended a 10k interval for my truck.
