Planning on a 8-12 hour maintenance run. I want to gather supplies and make plans to make the most of this time. Take care of as many things as possible since I'll be already that deep in it. So much so that I wont have to go in there again for 2 years/30k miles.

Truck has just under 200k on it right now and I don't know what previous owner did or not. Here's my list:

    . full coolant flush
    . new water pump
    . power steering pump rebuild
    . valve clearance check
    . spark plugs
    . plug wires
    . new valve cover gasket
    . complete starter motor inspection
    . complete alternator inspection
. ac compressor removal (it's already unbelted)
    . new outer belts

    What else should I do?

I would start with a coolant/exhaust gas & leak-down test to get an idea of the integrity of your head gasket; you'll already be half-way there, and if it's at all compromised, that's the time to do it. Otherwise, sounds like you've got all the key items nailed.

Why is your AC compressor unbelted? is the compressor bad? If so, please safely evacuate the freon.

This is a tricky situation once you remove the compressor because you have to have a perfect balance of Freon and the added oil amount when you refill it and there is probably oil in the compressor.

Too much or too little oil will be problems
