If i change my tires to bigger sizes will my speedometer be totally off and if so will i be able to have that readjusted to have it read the correct speed and if so how much does that usually cost. Also how much does a dealership charge to have the TPMS reconfigured to accommodate for a bigger size tire?

I've read a lot of times the Tacoma's with 245 sized tires actually have a speedo that's off from the factory since it's calibrated for 265 sized tires. That could be heresy, just what I've read.
You can have the speedo recalibrated or learn how it's off and adjust your driving accordingly. I'm not sure what the cost would be however.
You can also use a tool like a scangauge to view the adjusted speed or something like a hypertech speedometer calibrater to fix it.

The TPMS sensors don't care about what tire size so long as the air pressure in the tire is correct.

That sounds accurate to me.. I have 265/75/16s on my four banger and got pulled over doing 78 (what the speedo read) in a 70. I was expecting the officer to tell me I was doing 10-12 over the limit but he said he clocked me doing 78. My taco came from the factory with 245's and when I went up to 265s, it seemed like the speedo was still on the money..

No problem! Thanks for posting about the miscalibration from the factory. This is the first ive heard about the speedos being calibrated for 265s. Definitely makes sense though. I was wondering how I got lucky when I got pulled over. It all makes sense now!

I was on 245, now switched to 265/75/r16 and its on the dot. so if I was driving 40 with 245 it shows 37-38ish now with the 265 40mph is 40.5 to 41mph ish

@Asdfghjkl123 honestly I didn't see any MPG loss at all. when I was driving with 245 driving 15 miles to work and another 15 back M-F and some weekend driving I usually get 260MPG and after I switched to 265 /75 its still the same. the 265/70r16 is just wider but same size as the 245 in height. so your speedo will be same just maybe .2 or .5 MPH off but the 265/75/r16 is 31.7 wheels so I guess u can consider its 32inch tire so your speedo will be on the dot or .2 or .4ish higher MPH

@tacoshin another question when you did have 245, did you ever scrape the bottom of your truck on a speed bump? i swear everytime i go through a small speed bump for some reason the bottom of my truck scrapes a little even when i don't load much on my truck. Idk if i am heavy or what but i weigh 170lbs
