Yup, agree with everything you say, especially about exhaust note being subjective. This TRD is way better than the Magnaflow that I had (honestly no clue on the length, but I'm guessing it was the 18"), and I can live with this one. I notice that as the truck warms up and the cold idle speeds calm down, it sounds way better. I do a fair amount of highway driving, and I think it will be good there, as it seems to quiet up around 2000 RPM. I can definitely live with the TRD, but I must be getting older, because the quieter exhaust was more pleasing to me for sure.

I wanted some additional noise, but I have little tolerance for drone,,, and the wife has zero tolerance. So, my choices get more limited too.

Is the TRD catback getting better since you've had it on there for awhile now? I tried the Magnaflow setup too and it wasn't for me either, so I put the stock back on. I have been thinking about going the TRD route and have heard that it gets a better tone the longer it's on there.

Add a resonator to the mix should quiet it down. I've got a 27" magnaflow 2.5 in and out and sounds good to me.
