changing wheel size

    I have a 2013 Tacoma SR5 4 wheel drive with stock 16" wheels. I want to know if I can change to 17" wheels and if so are there any problems with doing so?

    I've got 265/75/16's and I had to take off my front mud flaps and trim a small bit of plastic to get rid of the rubbing. If you go up from stock to 70/17's it should be about the same situation.

    same as above, I have 265/75/16s and I had to remove my front flaps and trim a little plastic. They are about the biggest tires tht your gonna be able to run without lifting..in all honesty, I wouldn't run them unless your planning on getting a lift soon

    Really? What year is yours? That's weird, I definitely had to remove mud flaps to even turn, then trimmed the plastic when there was still some rubbing

    Not running MTs or anything gnar gnar, but my Dynapro ATMs aren't exactly highway tires.

    I've got goodyear wrangler authorities. Lots of extra tread, maybe that's it. Rob, what tires are you running?

    Are the 13 wheel wells different?

    Those Authority's are meaty. Mine are P metric, not LT, so that could be something also.

    I went from 256/70 to 265/75 and I have lots of space on my '14. I did have aftermarket rims on my truck for about a week and I was so close to rubbing, I probably would have off road.

    Once I went back to the OEM rims, I had lots of space again and never rub, even with hard wheeling. People get into trouble with aftermarket rims, the offset can make you rub.
