This passed week my truck has been at the Toyota dealership having the charcoal canister replaced, as far as I know of the charcoal canister is located around or on the gas tank (correct me if I'm wrong) well in the passed my gas gauge has been messing up not showing the accurate amount of gas (can go in better detail in how the gauge is acting) but could that be the reason my gas gauge was acting up and causing inaccurate readings? Thanks!

    short answer..

    NO.

Charchol canister simply grabs the gas fumes from the tank and stores them to be burnt by the motor, thats all it does.

Charcoal canister is in the filler stem not the tank

Which is why you should never overfill your gas tank. This will destroy your carbon canister which is very expensive to replace.

Ok thanks guys, I didn't know really what it did and thought I would ask to see if that might have been the problem with my gas gauge cause Toyota said they can't fix my gas gauge for stupid reason.

Canister is mounted behind the tank.
The vent to the canister is in the fill pipe.
