I own a 2011 Tacoma that I bought used in 2018. Since I've owned the truck whenever I fill up on gas until the nozzle clicks off, gas will spill out of the filler neck. It happens all the time and at any gas station I fill up at, my solution has been to estimate how much gas it'll take to top off and half throttle the filler nozzle for the last gallon or two until the click. After doing some reading it seems a saturated charcoal cannister might be the culprit, I also have no check engine lights on. Just looking for opinions on taking the plunge and replacing the charcoal cannister or what else to look at first? Thanks

If your canister was bad a CEL would definitely be on, dont replace yet

This is likely a flapper issue on the tank itself.

Is the charcoal cannister the only route for venting the fuel tank? When I have a spill happen it seems like there is a back pressure.

Are you referring to a flapper valve at the filler neck? If yes, I don't see one on my truck.

There is a fill valve that’s part of the charcoal canister that probably went bad. You can replace that or buy a whole assembly.
