Is it safe to do so? Thanks in advance.

Sure, I can't see why not. What about trickle charging it via the usb in the cab?

Can be done - like Scott said watch for rain - or consult this thread for an alternative (in-cab AC120)

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
I've used it to charge my phone while I was working on my fire extinguisher.

I wouldn't drive around with stuff back there (well... I don't have a tailgate on so that's mainly why) otherwise: it's perfectly safe.

Did the AC in cab mod, use it to charge laptop, camera batteries, cell phone, etc. Easy to do and very practical.

I'd put a power inverter in the 12v accessory outlet

If you are planning to use a power inverter make sure it is a true sine wave generator one. Laptops do not like some inverters as some do not put out the correct signal for the laptop to use. Have a 400 watt one at home that my two laptops do not like at all.

I've done it, used an extension cord through the back window to keep the computer in the cab.

Same although I charged my laptop in the bed once or twice before I did the mod. I have a shell on the back though. I'd highly recommend doing the 400w anytime mod if you plan to use the computer while conected.
